Tetrachord
Amman, Jordan 2016
Installation at The Lab, Darat Al Funun
Tetrachord is a multidisciplinary creative project that evolved over the course of three weeks at The Lab: on-site improvisation resulted in a dance performance by dance artist Shireen Talhouni, a soundscape by musician Ahmad Barakat, and a a physical installation designed/built by Hiba Shahzada,.
The installation was entirely built out of reclaimed materials, steel and wood, found at scrapyards in Zarqa. The intention was to create a raw, cage-like, structure that at once reacted to as well as commanded the kinaesthetic and auditory processes. The design of the steel structure also allowed for visitors and passersby to sit, observe, and interact with the performers at different times.
